It was a regular cloudy day of a rainy season, I was traveling Kandivali at my new office it was my 2nd or 3rd working day. I was sitting next to my boss for some presentation work suddenly a cockroach flew from somewhere and sat on me.
I started screaming out of fear.
With a panic stricken face and trembling voice, I started jumping, with both my hands desperately trying to get rid of the cockroach.
My reaction was contagious, on my reactions my boss started laughing on me. Finally, I managed to push the cockroach away but …it landed on my boss.
Now, it was his turn to react to that situation, I thought even he will panic and will try to get rid of that cockroach the way I did. But it went complete opposite, He stood firm, composed himself observed the behavior of the cockroach on his shirt. And when he was confident enough, he grabbed it with his fingers and threw it out of the office.
I comfort myself again on the chair and cabin, the antenna of my mind picked up a few thoughts and started wondering, was the cockroach responsible for my histrionic behavior?
If so, then why was my boss not disturbed? I questioned him
How he handled it near to perfection, without any chaos?

    He simply answered:

“It is not the cockroach, but the inability of ourselves to handle the disturbance caused by the cockroach”

I realized that it is not the shouting of our father or our boss or our mom that disturbs us, but it’s our inability to handle the disturbances caused by their shouting that disturbs us.
It’s not the traffic jams on the road that disturbs us, but it’s our inability to handle the disturbance caused by the traffic jam that disturbs us.
It is rightly said “Life is 10% what happens to us and 90% how we react to it”
More than the problem, it’s our reaction to the problem that creates chaos in our life. We should always try to respond to our problems instead of reacting.
I reacted, whereas my boss responded.

Reactions are always instinctive whereas responses are always well thought of.

    A beautiful way to understand…………LIFE.
A person who is HAPPY is not because Everything is RIGHT in his Life.
He is HAPPY because his Attitude towards Everything in his Life is Right..!!
